First off - the St. Patrick's Parade.
It was a beautiful day, sunny and warm (when the forecasts were calling for dank and dismal) for the parade, and your Exec. Committee stepped out in style sporting the new SEAF t-shirts.
We hung shirts off the side of the mommyvan, in which the youngest member of the SEAF was riding. There was quite a bit of interest in the shirts by the Fire Department, and many questions as to the sale of the shirts. It is a topic the Exec. will be investigating in the future.
With flags flying and banner still in the mail, the SEAF stepped off behind some very innovative Girl Scouts (selling cookies along the parade route) and began the march into downtown, along with our partners in crime - Sharebike.
Sharebike brought their standard yellow bikes, and this creation, which had the crowd bewitched.
Yep - that's right. He's laying down on the job. A bike which comes with a chiropractor. A street sled in the truest sense. This was a custom build, apparently made from 2 bikes. Looks to me like one of those great bikes if you are going downhill, uphill - not so much.
With Sharebike doing some swoops and stunts, your SEAF marched down Jefferson - waving and saluting the crowd. And possibly scaring little children.
Yow.
In the end - we reached the end of the parade, witnessed a truck burst into flames, and enjoyed the wonderful weather that canceled the Celtic festival. One more photo of the parade before we move on.
Ok - back to the present now, and last night's meeting.
We were inundated by not just one - but 2 candidates for Council, and 1 for Mayor. Thanks to Mrs. Garner, Mr. Rosen, and Mr. Bowers for setting foot into Southeast (as some other people are afraid to do).
We also had Mr. Steve Langston with Code Enforcement, along with his co-workers come speak to us (again) on the subject of what code enforcement CAN and CAN NOT do. How to properly use and utilize Code Enforcement, and he addressed the problem of why people seem to think Code Enforcement has no teeth.
Thanks to them for coming.
I'll be posting some announcements later...
