Roanoke resident says traffic calming is dangerous & destructive

Several people in Roanoke are complaining about traffic calming.

Nearly three years ago, Roanoke City narrowed the streets in several locations along Bullitt and Jamison Avenue. The goal is to make drivers feel uncomfortable about speeding. That way they will slow down. While city leaders say traffic calming is working, many people can't stand it.

Loretta Wirt says it's dangerous and destructive. She says drivers are going so fast, they often hit the curb.

"When it hits the curb and they blow a tire, it's like a bomb going off," says Wirt.
